Minimizing the Footprint

Minimizing the Footprint of the Proposed Project

The Proposed Project submitted for permitting is a compact and efficient mine with important advantages:

The smaller area reduces the amount of water that will need to be managed AND the amount of waste rock that has to be handled. The extremely low 0.12:1 strip ratio for the open pit is perhaps 5% of what is normally seen at other projects designed to mine a porphyry copper deposit.

The site assessment done during the baseline studies detailed two drainage basins in the Pebble region. A key consideration in the mine design was to keep the primary project development components in one drainage basin and out of the Upper Talarik Creek drainage.
